Bharat Gaurav Mr. Neil Khot - CEO & Founder Rely Services

Neil Khot is the President, CEO, and Founder of Rely Services. A professional services firm that provides outsourcing solutions to the commercial and government sectors, Rely is headquartered in Illinois — with a global presence in Chicago, Dubai, and Pune. Founded on an ethos of efficiency, Rely streamlines clients’ operations through project management, account management, and IT — and boasts an impressive list of repeat clients.

Neil founded Rely Services in 2002 after uncovering an opportunity to provide best-in-class outsourced services. A former technology & systems consultant for professional services firms, Neil was accustomed to partnering with offshore teams. However, he felt that these engagements could be managed more efficiently–the impetus for Rely Services. Rely Services’ client list now boasts Marriott, Carnegie Mellon University, the State of Illinois, and many more.

Over the past twenty years, Neil has built and scaled Rely from a one-man startup to an ecosystem of four businesses (Rely Services, Barrington Plaza Realty, Sociale Dispensary, and Rely Ventures). The Rely ecosystem spans a presence in three countries (U.S., India, and UAE), millions of dollars in annual revenue, dozens of team members, and thousands of clients.

In addition, Neil’s time outside of work has been focused on creating new opportunities for Indian-Americans and amplifying the greater AAPI community. He is the Co-Founder of Chicago’s Federation of Indian Association and National Chair of the Indian American Business Coalition (IABC). During his tenure as the National Chair of IABC, he recruited thousands of members, held large-scale networking events that allowed members to make meaningful professional connections, and partnered with state and national lawmakers to advance business-focused legislation.

Prior to co-founding Chicago’s Federation of Indian Association, there was no dedicated space for Indian-Americans to build professional relationships. As a minority, Neil understands the feeling of being “othered” — so creating this community was of utmost importance. He also had the great honor of receiving Cook County’s Asian Pacific Islander Heritage award twice (in 2019 and 2020) due to his continued advocacy. Most recently, he was honored as the AAPI Person of the Year by the Village of Hoffman Estates, IL; Schaumburg, IL; and Oak Brook, IL.

In the next stage of his career, Neil is focused on sharing his expertise with the world and empowering the next generation. He regularly shares thought leadership content on LinkedIn, speaks at conferences, and is spotlighted as a community leader. He was recently honored by the House of Representatives for his contributions to female empowerment and the South Asian community.

Bharat Gaurav Mr. Chaman Lal Bhalla - Entrepreneur

Mr. Chaman Lal Bhalla’s journey from a hopeful entrepreneur to a cornerstone of Paris’s culinary scene encapsulates a tale of resilience, familial dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Born in Mandi Bahauddin, Punjab — a region torn by the upheavals of the India-Pakistan partition — Chaman Lal Bhalla’s family fled to India, settling in New Delhi. Here, amidst the challenges of displacement, they faced financial constraints and a significant loss of social status. Yet, these early adversities forged a resilience in young Chaman Lal, fueling a determination to restore his family’s dignity and standing. From a young age, he balanced his academic pursuits with work, understanding that both education and practical experience were crucial to overcoming the hardships his family faced. He tirelessly juggled his studies with various jobs, contributing to the family income while still attending school. This period of his life was not just about academic learning but also about gaining real-world experience that instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility. These qualities would later become the cornerstone of his entrepreneurial ventures and successes.

In 1973, Mr. Bhalla arrived in Paris with dreams of expanding his textile and garment business from Delhi. Despite initial setbacks, including language barriers that hampered his efforts, he persisted. His breakthrough came in 1976 when he secured a substantial order for 15,000 shirts, setting a foundation for his future ventures in the French capital.

Mr. Bhalla’s entrepreneurial journey took a significant turn towards the culinary world when he, along with two colleagues, noticed the success of a local Indian restaurant. Inspired, they opened their own restaurant near Rue de Louvre, which quickly became a popular spot among Parisians and tourists alike. This experience sparked the idea that would grow into a family-run restaurant empire.

In 1982, the opening of Tandoori in Montparnasse marked the beginning of the Bhalla family’s prominent presence in Paris’s restaurant industry. Over the years, their portfolio expanded to include multiple establishments, such as the prestigious Ashiana in Neuilly-sur-Seine (1985) and another in Montparnasse (1987), renowned for their authentic Indian cuisine and warm, inviting ambiance.

His restaurants became cultural hubs, attracting celebrities and dignitaries from both France and India, including French politicians like Nicolas Sarkozy, Indian leaders such as L.K. Advani, French singer Patrick Bruel, and Indian cinema stars like Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta.

Despite the demanding nature of his business, Mr. Bhalla’s success would not have been possible without the unwavering support of his wife, Veena Rani Bhalla. While he built his empire abroad, Veena Rani managed their household in India, ensuring a nurturing environment for their children and maintaining the family’s well-being. Her support allowed him to focus wholeheartedly on his business, knowing his family was in good hands.

Furthermore, driven by a spirit of exploration, he opened an Italian restaurant, Au Soleil Italien, around 2005 in Porte de Champerret and continued to innovate with new locations like Ratn near the Champs-Elysées in 2006 and another Ashiana at Ternes in 2016. Today, they are being managed by the family; the children as well as the grandchildren.

Mr. Bhalla’s commitment to cultural advocacy extended beyond his restaurants. He was a founding member of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) in France, which played a vital role in promoting Indian cultural and social interests abroad. Through GOPIO, he facilitated numerous initiatives that enriched the cultural dialogue between the two nations.

Today, his legacy is a testament to the successful fusion of French and Indian identities. Bharat Gaurav Mr. Bharat Mahtani - Social worker

Bharat Mahtani, a man who bridges cultures as effortlessly as a perfectly brewed cup unites morning and conversation.

Born in Mumbai, India, Bharat’s life took a surprising turn at the young age of three when his family moved to Pondicherry, a former French territory. Here, French became the language of friendship among the diverse group of children he met at school. It was the first sip of a life steeped in cultural understanding.

Education wasn’t just about books for Bharat. Sports, spirituality, and appreciating different cultures were all part of the rich brew he learned from. He excelled in his studies, even winning the “Best Student’s Prize” for his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.

Adventure beckoned, leading Bharat to Mumbai and then Chennai, where he shared his knowledge as a computer science professor. But at 22, a stronger pull took him across the globe to Paris for advanced studies.

The City of Lights welcomed him with open arms, thanks to his fluent French. However, navigating the official side of life in France proved a bit tricky. It was a lesson Bharat wouldn’t forget, sparking a deep empathy for others facing similar hurdles.

His professional journey began in the world of IT, eventually leading him to become a Worldwide Organization Director at a French multinational. Traveling across 36 countries solidified his belief that languages were bridges, not barriers.

In 2011, Bharat took a bold step, leaving the corporate world to become an entrepreneur for a cause. He founded the “Indo-French Cultural Exchange Initiative,” a grassroots movement brewing understanding and collaboration between the Indian and French communities.

For Bharat, language was more than words; it was a key to unlock cultures. His company offered language training in over 25 languages, translation, interpretation, and connections with native experts. He even created language exchange programs, where laughter and conversation became the glue that bonded Indian expats, students, and French locals.

His vision extended to the world of business. He helped Indian entrepreneurs bridge cultural gaps in France and facilitated French entrepreneurs venturing into India. Awards and recognition followed, but for Bharat, the real reward was the “smiles of gratitude on the faces of those whose lives he has touched.”

One such instance happened during Christmas. A call came in about a stranded plane, filled with Indian passengers facing a language barrier and a confusing situation. Without hesitation, Bharat stepped in, ensuring their well-being and repatriation for those who chose to return home.

Beyond his work, Bharat takes pride in his family. His wife has been his constant support, and their sons, both engineering graduates, have carved their own paths — one in Paris, the other in Silicon Valley.

India, his birthplace, remains a source of inspiration. He feels a deep sense of “doing good for his homeland,” a reflection of the enriching experiences it gave him.

As Bharat Mahtani continues to champion cultural exchange, his story is more than a biography; it’s an invitation. An invitation to savor the richness of different cultures, to bridge divides with understanding, and to see the world as a place where languages blend like the perfect cup of coffee, creating a warm and welcoming aroma for all.
