Mrs. Meghna Sakore Bordikar is the MLA for the Jintur constituency in the Parbhani district of Marathwada, Maharashtra. She is an entrepreneur and also serves as a member of the Panchayat Raj Committee of Maharashtra state. In addition, she’s a director of the PDCC Bank (Parbhani). She entered the public sphere at the age of 28, only after giving quality time to her 2 children currently studying in London because, for her, family always comes first.
Meghna ji has a Masters’s Degree in International Studies from DY Patil University (Pune) & has carried out various social work initiatives in the Parbhani district. These include promoting water & environmental conversation, creating employment programs for women & youth, providing education to underprivileged children & running liquor de-addiction & rehabilitation programs, and steering Parbhani towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Her efforts for rainwater harvesting and water conservation along with Paani Foundation have resulted in her constituency, an originally drought-prone area, becoming free from water scarcity, igniting a spark in her people to take it upon themselves to fight the drought conditions. Employment rates in women and youth have also seen growth.
She’s married to Deepak Sakore, an IPS officer working as DIG in Pune, Maharashtra. She is the daughter of a 5-term MLA Mr. Ramprasad Bordikar and the daughter-in-law of a retired Lt in the Indian Navy. The ideas of service and public administration are widely prevalent in the family, she is an ambitious woman leader working towards India’s progress by starting at the grassroots level.
